Obsidian Butterfly is an unconventional and non traditional ART troupe.

We use ART as a means of self expression, healing, and spiritual growth to create performances that weave our many talents into one production.

Our shows are an alchemical blend of ecstatic expression through movement and dance, poetic storytelling, fire, ritual, ancient mystery, and everyday life.

No show is the same.

We are community oriented and welcome anyone who wishes to learn, teach, or express themselves through any form of ART.

The end result is a beautiful dance and a mind blowing experience.

Sequoia

Sequoia TREE. Ancient and deep.
One day I sat at her trunk as she wept.

Troupe leader, founder, organizer, teacher, performer, poet, and artist

Sequoia teaches classes in POI, Fire Dance, Fire Safety, Ecstatic Flow Yoga and Dance; Is an artist, poet, offers Reiki and Energy Balancing sessions (for humans, animals, and environments) as well as therapeutic Zen Style Shiatsu Massage and relaxation sessions.

She has been dancing since she was a child, studying yoga since 1997, and Fire Dancing since 2000.

The element of love, the flavor of sound.

Summer is an emerging Fire staff spinner. She has been performing and dancing with the troupe since 2004 and a fan of good metal music. She enjoys working with people with disabilities and is currently working to build her career as a massage therapist.

Alixandra Fire Fairy creative and free.
Dances to a middle eastern belly dance beat.
She loves shells,and bells, and tassles, and zills..
She is a pleasurable spirit with all the frills.

Alixandra is a multi-talented, dedicated, hard working, and successful artist and performer. She is a founding member of the troupe and currently lives in Aptos, CA. Alix makes amazing mixed media collage artistic works which may be viewed on her website

Shahlah Sutra

The Goddess of Goth

A dancing dark allure

She is the Warrioress of the night

yielding a flaming sword obscure

Shahlah Sutra lives in Lodi and travels up here on a weekly basis to practice and peform with the troupe. She has been participating in performances since 2005 at the Harvest Moon Festival. She is an outstanding belly dancer, teacher, and fire performer and loves adding a Gothic flare to her dance. She teaches Gothic Style Tribal Fusion Dance and makes very cool wearable crafts. Micah is amazing dancer and a budding fire performer. She lives in Big Bend California and travels all the way down to Sacramento on a weekly basis to participate in troupe practices and performermances. She is a loving, generous, and kind human being who is passionate about the forests and does whatever she can to educate people about deforestation and the impacts of our lifestyles on the environment.
